Our Future is Unwritten
A Joint NYC/NJ Socialist Party Organizing Conference

From a diverse city come diverse struggles. From the rights of domestic workers to the right to affordable housing, New Yorkers are struggling to forge a future where they can live and work in an environment where their needs and rights come before profit. On Sunday, June 28th, 2009, the New York City and New Jersey locals of the Socialist Party USA, will host an organizing conference, which will highlight the various struggles taking place in New York City and beyond. Beginning at noon, speakers from these grassroots struggles will discuss the movement for a more just and open New York City, as well as global events like the recent European Union elections. Speakers will include representatives from Domestic Worker’s United, Save the Lower East Side, The Swedish Left Party, Socialist Party USA and other invited guests. The featured speaker will be David McReynolds, long time activist in the peace movement who was one of the first to burn his draft card during the Vietnam War and the first openly gay man to run for president of the United States.

The event is free and open to the public. Children are welcome. Light refreshments will be served.
